There was a similar question by the same person in February 2013, set to "solved" on 2013-02-03 https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+question/220844

For whatever reason the initiator of that question has now added the first lines of his /etc/apt/sources.list again, without telling what the problem is, but keeping that question at the status "solved".

I see two possibilities for preceeding with these questions:
either
1. continue in this new question and leave the old one in its 'solved' status
or
2. close this question and continue in the old one, but set the old one to open again.

In any of these two cases we need more information about what is going wrong. Just the output of "head /etc/apt/sources.list" is not enough.

Best base for identifying the root cause of problems with updating is the output of step 5 in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PackageManagerTroubleshootingProcedure

He/She is not the same person. Look again carefully.

Question #220844 was opened by @Dang Thanh An

and this question was opened by @zainab kapadia

@zainab kapadia , please follow the troubleshooting procedure as comment #2 indicates, and post back here FULL results. No matter how many are.

@NikTh: Completely right, I missed the different creators of the questions. In that case it is even more questionable what the benefit of posting parts of the config file by zainab kapadia in that other question should be.

@zainab kapadia: please elaborate on your problem and provide the output of the troubleshooting procedure

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask zainab kapadia for more information if necessary.
