E: Type 'eb' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nilarimogard-webupd8-oneiric.list
E: The list of sources could not be read...this is my dilemma its horrible...I am a newby...so if anyone can please help...thank you in advance...and please have patience....

Open a terminal ( ctrl + alt + t ) then type:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nilarimogard-webupd8-oneiric.list

you need to dress the row 2 of the file...

Assuming you are using ubuntu 12.04 precise, you don't say to us, the file must look like the rows below:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogard/webupd8/ubuntu precise main

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogard/webupd8/ubuntu precise main

You said you are new to ubuntu so please read http://ubuntu-manual.org/
