I get an error message from the update system

Asked by Jesper Christensen

This is the message I get (besides check your internet connection!):
W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/janousek.jiri/google-music-frame-releases/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/source/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/janousek.jiri/google-music-frame-releases/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

What's wrong?

Simply verify if the url matches, Oneiric is in the daily backports.

I'm sorry it's all just not making sense to me. I'm a user of Ubuntu, not a programmer or what ever. Please tell which button I should press! Or the recipe for the Terminal......

I have deleted it again in Synaptic, but that doesn't seem to do the trick. I'm still getting the same error.

The PPA was deprecated since Google Music Frame 0.3.2 and was removed when Nuvola Player 1.0 was released. The new PPA is https://code.launchpad.net/~nuvola-player-builders/+archive/stable

Still chinese to me, sorry. Probably have to re-install Ubuntu 11.10 because of this, really? I need to remove that ppa completely (whatever that is, I'm a normal user - this is not user friendly) , Google Music doesn't work in Europe anyway. How do I do that?

No need to reinstall whole system. You have to open Software sources dialog and remove *all* lines containing "janousek.jiri" and then refresh package cache (search menu for refresh or update). I can't tell you exact step by step procedure, because I'm currently on Natty (Ubuntu 11.04) and I don't know how Software Center looks in Oneiric.

Please do not install Private Package Archives again unless you are experienced enough to use them. Nuvola Player with support for Google Music, Grooveshark, 8tracks and Hype Machine) will be hopefully available in the next Ubuntu release.

Thanks, but where do I find the software sources dialog? And how do I remove all the necessary lines?
Sorry for asking, again I'm just a regular user.

Click on the Ubuntu button at the top of left panel (dock), type software resources, go to tab Software Sources, select line containing "janousek.jiri", click on Button remove, select another line containing "janousek.jiri", click on Button remove, ...
