installing a software

whenever i try installing any software this msg is displayed

"the action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources"

pls help

Hello,

You should install software from the Synaptic Package Manager or the Ubuntu Software Center.

You can add repositories.

it just means that the software you're installing isn't coming from a source that ubuntu supports. the software may run, but you assume all risks if it corrupts your system.
