Updates seem to go through as the list of available updates changes daily.
Relatively new to Ubuntu and bug reporting process so any suggestions welcome

Hi Fabio,
Still no luck.
Same error presents when trying to install/uninstall these and any other software via the 'Software Centre'. The software components appear to go through ok as they appear on the installed list ok.
Cheers,
Marty

Hi Fabio,
I have managed to resolve the issue by using the following commands:
sudo -i
dpkg --purge --force-depends grub-pc
apt-get install -f
apt-get clean
apt-get -d install grub-pc
dpkg --force-overwrite --install grub-pc (this command didn't work, but i was able to install grub-pc via the Software Centre)
dpkg --configure -a
exit

I'd love to know exactly what has happened, but i'm happy that the errors have stopped.
Cheers,
Marty

Hello
As you are the only reporter of this issue, then probably it depends
from something misconfigured during the update process.
Then as this is not a bug i convert this report into a question.
Thanks
Fabio

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug. There is also a vibrant support community available at http://askubuntu.com and you might consider asking your question there.
