stopping automatic report generation

Asked by martin johnson

Ubuntu was running fine, I accidentally stop it in the middle of an update. The next day while starting it up I get these [ok] and will not go through the loading process. A normal start-up I get ok battery check among a small list of other items, while remaining portion of screen is blank.

I just want to get back to being able to log on to Ubuntu.
