you'll need fast network interfaces to serve the data fast. I also recommend looking into sysctl.conf file to assign more resources to networking. if you can, get a tonne of RAM and use tempfs to store your data and rsync the data to magnetic storage every now and again. This will remove the bottle neck of hard drives.

For the actual applications etc I suggest you post on forums specifically for that application.
