Trying my best to uninstall and re-install LAMP-server programmes.....please help

Asked by Colin Burgess

Hi All,

I am a newbie to LAMP server (have been working with WAMP for a while) and find Ubuntu to be the far superior OS and platform for me.

However, I started to install Apache2 first, then PHP & MySQL. I think my laptop didn't go with the default options because I cannot (although I have installed it) find phpmyadmin or localhost.

I am trying to uninstall all of the above so that I can re-install with the default options (as per the tutorials I have now come accross), but can't seem to get rid of anything? Everytime I re-install it seems that I already have it installed, which just shows my incompetency at removing it in the first place.

Please help (and be kind, i'm new).

There was a similar problem in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=850309. Does the advice there help? (If not, please reply, reopening the question and saying exactly what you did and what happened, or explaining how that advice does not seem to apply to you.)

Can you help with this problem?
