ansible-core @ Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is EOL

Asked by Joseph

Currently shipped 'ansible-core' version by Ubuntu 22.04 is 2.12 , which is considered "Unmaintained (end of life)" by ansible project

Are there any plans to update it to currently supported version?

You are reading a wrong table.

Version 2.12 will be end of life only 22 May 2023.

If you are looking for newer versions: there are PPAs, e.g.

Hello Manfred,
also thanks for your answer.
But what will be happen after 22.05.2023?
Will you provide a maintained ansible-core package for the latest Ubuntu 22.04. LTS version? For example, ansible-core version 2.14?

@Erik Schwalbe: "Will you provide ..."

The problem is the "you".
Ansible-core is in the "universe" category, that means that it is community-maintained, and not managed by Ubuntu/Canonical staff.

Somebody has to prepare a solution which then can published. Everybody is invited to help, including yourself.

There are several potential ways forward:
A quick check of the dependencies does not show a problem that would prevent installing the version for lunar (currently 2.14.2-1) on jammy. That should allow a backport.
There are already some PPAs with higher versions, see for a list of potential candidates.
