Amarok 2.2.1 with iPhone 3.1.2 with iFuse

Asked by jokerhero

Situation:
iPhone 2.0+, iPod Touch 2.0+ not jailbroken and linux do not mix until recently.
iFuse can be installed per instructions here: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-connect-iphoneipod-touch-using-usbin-karmicjauntyintrepidhardy.html#more-2042
which allows me to now see all of my media files including the iTunes directory and songs, and am able to manually upload songs.

Amarok 2.2.0 is installed and to my knowledge is able to transfer music to iPods using libgpod.
libgpod is able to see the new iPhone with the help of iFuse
Amarok is able to see the songs by pointing the library to the phone's directory: /media/iPhone

Problem:
As reported under a few ubuntu forums, when plugging the iPhone or iPod in the linux system recognizes the device, but Amarok 2.2.0 does not view it as a device even though iFuse allows HAL to recognize it. Without Amarok being able to see the device, it can't transfer music as it should be able to.

Obviously, I'd be willing to answer any questions and am willing to brick my iPhone for this cause.
