Ipod displays "The Beatles" under "T" with amarok

Asked by sprinkler

Hello,

I recently switched over to Linux and am happy using Amarok instead of itunes to update my music and ipod, however I have encountered an irritating problem. All artists on my ipod that begin with "The" are now classified under "T". For example, "The Beatles" was classified under "B" when I was using itunes. Now when I look for "The Beatles" on my ipod, I have to go all the way down to "T". Of course Amarok doesnt make this mistake for the music it has in it's own library, just for the ipod. Any explanations?

I have a 30gig black video ipod that I use with Amarok. Is there any way to correct this?

I have a 60GB Black iPod, and using the Amarok from Feisty, cannot replicate this problem (even using "The Beatles" as the artist transferred.

Have you tried completely removing all Beatles albums, and then readding them again with Amarok?

Yes, I have tried reloading data for all bands starting with "The" onto my ipod. That hasn't helped the problem. The strangest part is that not only did this never used to happen on this ipod, but in the Device Manager of Amarok where it displays everything on my ipod, it displays the correct band order!!!

I seem to be the only person with this problem and I have no idea why.

Any other ideas?

Sorry, I accidentally marked this thread as "solved". Didn't mean to. It's still quite irritating!

I have this same general problem. All the artists in my Amarok collection that start with "The" are listed under T when they are copied to the iPod. However, they are not sorted in this manner in my Amarok collection. For example:

artist: The Arcade Fire
id3 tags: artist is "The Arcade Fire"
amarok: displayed as "The Arcade Fire", listed under A and sorted as if it were "Arcade Fire"
ipod: displayed as "The Arcade Fire", listed under T, sorted as "The Arcade Fire"

Expected: "The Arcade Fire" should show on the iPod sorted in the same way as in Amarok

Same for me. Kubuntu feisty with Amarok 1.4.7 and a 5G Ipod. Not dramatic but irritating and a little annoying.

Can you help with this problem?
