Amarok finds songs from second NTFS hard drive but wont play them?

Asked by Paul

I have all my music in a second NTFS hard drive, i have mounted the hard drive on startup and Amarok can find the songs fine, but when i click on one to play it, it skips over it and goes to the next and through the whole list without playing any of them, but then in last played it shows the songs as all being played?? if they did play they played really quick and made no sound.

The files are wma extension, so i dont know if its having a problem with that or if its with the second hard drive

Any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

Hello Paul,

The reason you cannot play those files is that either you do not have the proper codecs installed, or the files are DRM protected.

If it's the first case, these links shoudl help you out:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

If it's the second case, you are out of luck, as they will probably not play because of the DRM.

Hey, the codecs were already installed so it wasnt that and they arent protected files.

The problem was that i was trying to play WMA-streams and Amarok cant play them, however if u install libxine1-plugins it allows it to play them

ie-

sudo apt-get install libxine1-plugins

and that seemed to fix everything!
