Can't choose a non-linux folder to build collection

Asked by avgvstvs

While I have the workaround of creating a playlist, this isn't as nice as having discrete albums to cruise and play. I don't like having a single playlist 6k+ songs big. It's more than a little clunky. Plus the partition where I save the files needs to be accessible to my windows environment.

And I AM aware of the search function to whittle down the list, but I rarely remember song titles or even band names sometimes and prefer being able to look at the cd cover to identify the album in question.

After some deep searching I figured out that I needed to enable this through the OS itself! I needed a script to tell linux to load the drive as a folder. Then I'd be fine.

So, following the generic directions here: http://www.ubuntux.org/edit-fstab-to-mount-partition-at-startup

I gained root, made the backup and followed the rest of the directions using gparted to find the 'linux name' of my music partition. (since I didn't know another tool to find the same info.)

Now it's perfect!
