Amarok 2 from jaunty does not show collection.

Asked by Niels tijssen

Hi During the upgrade from Kubuntu 08:10 "intredpid" to Kubuntu "09:04" my amarok 1.4 application was replaced by amarok 2.0. When I tried to open amarok, ik only shows the top menu bar with the "play / pause" buttons, and not any collections making amarok unusabe. See the attached screenshot.

System properties: kubuntu jaunty beta / Intel centrino core2duo / intel gma 950 video card.
How can I enable the view of the collection?

amarok 1.4 & amarok 2 , configuration files are not compatible as far as i know, so you have to delete your old amarok conf files and run the new version of amarok and reconfigure your settings build your media database ..etc
check this directory in your home
$ ls .kde/share
you will see apps & config , remove amarok directory from apps
$ rm -rf .kde/share/amarok
then remove .kde/share/config/amarok*
$ rm -rf .kde/share/config/amarok*

make sure amarok is closed , open it again you will get everything working

Thank you very much, this has solved my problem when upgrading to amarok 2.x from 1.4.x.
I hope that this will be addressed before 09.04 goes live, because the upgrade packages should do this.
A user will accept that a database needs to be rebuild, but not that the amarok application will only appear incorrectly.
