Amarok MySQL and Help Problem

Asked by Merlinpilot

I have installed Amarok (Ubuntu 8.10) (I am new to all this) and have two problems:

First is that the Help function does not work - Could not launch the KDE Help Centre: Could not find service 'khelpcentre'. I have followed instructions to another similar question - sudo apt-get install khelpcenter, which appeared to work, but I still get the same error message.

Second is that Amarok will not build a collection and the error Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) and it suggests to configure MySQL - this I do not know how to do, which is why I was trying to use the Help function!!

All advice gratefully received - thank you in anticipation

Check the Amarok MySQL howto:

http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/MySQL_HowTo

Specifically, the "MySQL Setup" section.
