Recently added music doesn't appear in collection

Asked by BigGeoff

Hi all

I have been using Amarok with Ubuntu Hardy for a few weeks now, Amarok was Ok but after a period of player problems which I sorted out, I now find that new additions to my music folder (where Amarok collections points to) do not appear in the collection even if I force it to rebuild. I have checked the permissions of the folders and all appears to be in order. I have tried uninstalling, deleting the entire .kde/share/aps/amarok folder then re-installing, but it still won't pick up the newer music.

Should I consider going over to Kubuntu?

I hope someone can help as Amarok has otherwise been a fine package and it would be a shame to have to dump it.

Not sure, but perhaps both of us are having a very similiar problem with the same root cause:

My issue 47227 is, that I can't force Amarok to update the collection Database.
However I am using mysql I assume you use sqlite, right?

I'll keep you updated if I find something

yes I am using the default sqlite. However, after banging away for days with this problem I did find that if I deleted all my music and re-ripped them in very low quality (64k/sec but not 96 or 128)) MP3 format they showed up in the collection and this worked for about 50 albums. I have no idea why and have not had time to check other formats again and no - it doesn't make sense to me.

Hi Geoff,

This sounds weired. Be happy thtat it's working now.

In fact my issue was different.
I expected Amarok to rescan automatically as I checked the box 'Watch folders for CHanges'

Manually clicking at 'Rescan Colelction' worked fine.
