Amarok cannot manage files; tries to create /home/mp3

Asked by Azrael

Hi,

when i try to "manage files" Amarok says it could not manage x files

the cause is that it tries to create a directory /home/mp3 (and of course has not and should not have the rigth to do this)

my Question: why does Amarok try to create /home/mp3
under Setting the Collection points to a directory on another partition (the partition is correct mountet i think) an the directory has the correct rigths.

Previously i had Ubuntu 7.04
the problem entered after installing Ubuntu 8.04 (not updating ) an using my old /home partition and directories

I would appeciate a hint why Amarok tries to create the directoy or a hint where i can get further information (i am not completely new to linux)

thanks

Is it going to a different partition via an old link left over from your last installation? Try deleting the link and remaking it. Also, make sure that the partition is mounted correctly, for read and write.

Thank you for the answer.
It was another problem.
the link was coorect, but when i checked again i realized, when you do a manage files-> copy to collection
there is an chooser on the upper where to put the files. this choice pointet to /home/mp3
no idea how amarok got this (i think there was never a directory 'mp3' in my /home)

o.k many thank for the answer
