Amarok loses collection on shut down

Asked by tropdoug

I have an extensive collection (over 6000 files) of music stored on an external drive. each time I shut down the main computer amarok loses the collection. When I boot up and start amarok I have to go to Setting>configure amarok>Collection and find the external drive, navigate to the music folder and then tick it. Back out to the main screen and do Tools>rescan collection and then wait for 15 mins or so as it rebuilds the list.

Is there a way to have amarok do that automatically when I start it, so that I can simply open it, let it rebuild the collection and then start to listen to my lists?

I don't store the music collection locally because it simply takes up too much room.

Thanks.

(Just a thought, I use Linux, would there be a way to install the program on the external drive, without installing the OS - currently the drive is simply a storage place. Ext 3 fs)

pls. make sure that when your system or computer starts it also automatically mount your external drive you can go to system settings>advanced>Disk and filesystems
enter administrator mode to modify your external drive' s behavior(i.e its mount point, type).make sure you check "Enable at start up"
