connection with Creative Zen Vision M

Asked by Jack R

amarok does not interface with Creative Zen Vision M mp3 player. Any thoughts on connection strategy? At present it thinks the Zen is a camera.

You can follow this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=316246

Me personally, I had to return mine because it is so restricted as to what you can do with it, no direct access to the hard drive(IE no drag and drop file transfers), can't enable support for free file formats, can't use hard drive recovery tools if you or someone you let use your player deletes the files, etc etc.

Good Luck,

Gnomad is also good to use with the Zen, I personally have one, and I've had no problem.

I followed,
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=199250&highlight=CREATIVE+ZEN+vision+m+gnomad
It's a lengthy install, but it's worth it.

Hope that helped,
Justin

If you're using Edgy or Feisty, though, the libmtp in the repos doesn't work. You have to use the compile method in the howto that Justin linked to. If checkinstall doesn't work on compiling libmtp, add --force-overwrite when you compile.

Can you help with this problem?
