Deleting files in amarok

Asked by Steve754

I just started using amarok, and I deleted a few things out of my collection that I didn't want because they were .asf files. I thought that it was removing them from amaroks playlist, not deleting the actual file. It says that it is moving them to the trash bin but I'm not sure where that trash bin is at.

Where do the files go when you use the delete files from the right mouse button menu?

open your trash bin in nautilus and drag the files into your media folder.

I tried that and the files don't show there.

But I found them.

When I deleted the files amarok said they were put in a trash bin, but I didn't know where. There was a checkbox in the prompt that asked if you would like to just delete the files instead and I left it unchecked which led me to believe that the files were still intact.

What I did to find the files was use nautilus and and check "Show hidden files and folders" from the menu.
voila a folder named .trash-1000 appeared in the parent directory of the drive that I deleted the files from which happened to be an external usb 250 gig drive. Almost all the files were there with the exception of one that I found with some hints from google. For some reason one of the files ended up in /home/"myusername"/.local/share/Trash/files, and I'm not so sure why because it was from the same drive as the other files.

Anyway problem solved after trial and error thank you for the help.
