amaraok flac decoder unavailable

In Kubuntu, I used KAudioCreator to rip a CD with flac encoder. When trying to play the files in Amarok, I get the error popup:
Error Loading Media
There is no available decoder.

Amarok version is 1.4.3 using using KDE 3.5.5.

Amarok version 1.4.4 is not available in Adept update manager.

I should have tried harder before I went crying for help. Here's what fixed it for me:

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly libxine-extracodecs

I started with CP/M in 1981 and worked my way through the Windows versions, but I really like the adventure of linux.
