Skip and Ban features are not working when playing Last.fm

Asked by Bluegene

I'm using Amarok 1.4.7 on gutsy. For some reason Last.fm's "Love" feature works with Amarok but not Skip and Ban. I get a status message saying "Skipping song..." but no action after that. I googled about this issue, I found lot of ppl reporting the same issue. Some say that it is because of the Last.fm's server problem, but there's no authoritative answer.Does anybody know about the problem in this forum and if you already know can you guys shed a light on the problem and it's status?

Amarok Team's official statement:
Due to a protocol transition on Last.fm's severs, Amarok's Last.fm streaming capabilities are sometimes, under certain circumstances not functional. Although Last.fm claims to support the old protocol to 100% some users report that Skip/Ban does not work (at least not always), since this issue is totally random and unreproducable we weren't able to find the issue on either side of the stream and hence can't offer a solution (yet).
However the issue should be completely resolved with the release of Amarok 2, which is going to use the new protocol by default (note that the new protocol can't be implemented in Amarok 1.4 since it's feature set is frozen to keep stability, and the new protocol would probably cause more issues than it can solve).
