Playing 24bits wav files ?

Amarok know how to play wav files, good, (44k / 16bits) but what about 24 bits files (I even didn't tried 48k or 96k samples), when I try to plays such files I got a very nice what noise (not what was expected of course)

Maybe this got fixed in xine 1.1.5:

"* Wave files with 24-bit integer PCM streams now should play correctly
  (downplayed to 16-bit)"

You're probably using xine as amarok's backend (that's default). Feisty has libxine 1.1.4, gutsy 1.1.7.

Yes you'r right this sould be the pb so I'll have to wait ...
my question could now be transformed in "does it exists an amarok engine able to play such files ?"

I don't think there is any other engine for amarok in feisty or gutsy, at least not available as a package: http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/kde/amarok-engines.

If you really need this functionality, you could upgrade now, gutsy is beta but it more or less works. Or you can try to upgrade just xine and it's dependencies.
