Streaming Internet Radio with Ubuntu 10.04

Asked by the_webninja

I just wanted to let everyone know that Shoutcast.com has made their Homepage like a Web Based Winamp player. Nullsoft calls it the "Internet Radio Directory Player" not winamp, but it works just like Winamp, and I was able to play Streams from Shoutcast.com using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Google Chrome Browser.

If anyone else knows of Easy Stream Lists or Directories that make streaming easier, please let me know.
If anyone knows how to ADD Streaming Directories to Amarok, let me know. Cause my Amarok works great I just only get Streams from Europe right now. :) And a couple other players I have work good playing stuff as long as it is on my Computer, and they offer an input box for a Specific IP address, but most of us like to choose between many Genres not just one Specific Music Stream.
There has to be a better way to add Music Stream Directories to our Music Players. Anyone have any ideas please let me know, or if you know of any other Sites that have gone to Web Based Streaming Applications for their Directories let me know.

Thanks,

VLC media player can retrieve the same directory listing as Winamp and play the streams. It's really quite similar to Winamp (at least when I last used it in about 2006)

Or use rhythmbox with rhythmbox-radio-browser plugin to browse the icecast directory. You can find lots of popular online radios, but also your favorite local radio station streams.

Can you help with this problem?
