s3 support in Amanda

Asked by Michael Samons

Folks, after some research a couple weeks ago I found a discussion that implies the current/default package of Amanda 2.6.1p1-2 was compiled *without* support for backing up to Amazon S3/cloud buckets. I had completed upgrades to the 10.04 LTS platform with this functionality as a key motivation, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs this functionality and would rather avoid stepping outside of package management. I've also noticed that Ubuntu's documentation tells how to set up the Amazon S3 virtual disk despite the fact that the official packaging does not support it.

So, are there plans to update the package accordingly?

Thanks so much!

Mike

Glad I saw this post. The upgrade to 10.04 LTS broke my amanda install that I did by hand, so was going to switch over to the repositories and use apt-get. I use S3, so this isn't good for me either.

Can you help with this problem?
