sound is playing to loud

Asked by supiik

Hi,

sound is playing so loud that sometimes I have feeling that it is going to crash my speakers.
I have to use only 3% of maximum in order to distinguish speech in movies.

Same problem I had in 8.04 beta5 but that is disappeared sudenly.

Please let my know what kind of diag data you need and how to get it.

Peter

Hi Peter!

I am going to convert this bug into a question, because there are ways to configure alsa to have different loudness granularity. Hopefully someone there can help you better (and faster!)

Regards,
Toothrot

P.S. You will be able to find this at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu

Your PCM and Master is set to max or almost max - they can be lowered using this terminal command:

alsamixer -Dhw:0

Where do you adjust the volume?

Can you help with this problem?
