microphone amplification will be reset after reboot

in 12.04 b1 with a asus sabertooth essence stx and mumble i have the problem that when i go in to settings --> sound settings --> input --> microphone --> and i set the input volume to max, the guys in mumble can hear me without problems but when i restart ubuntu the setting is reset to the normal value and i need to re tweak my setting is this intendet? and how can i fix it?
when it is a bug which is the correct package to report it?

I suggest you report a bug. Precise is not released and not ready. You will get issues like this leading up to and even a few weeks after release.

can you tell me which package the sound mixer or what ever the package is?

you can run:

ubuntu-bug alsa-utils

And it will start the process..
