5.1 channel audio problem

Asked by Neerav

I have a 5.1 channel audio system that has 3 pins for its sound input.
The problem i am having is, i am not able to configure the settings for the same. With the output from the system, only front 2 speakers are working. The subwoofer, rear and front center speakers are not delivering any sound. The system is working fine with windows on my machine. I am having this problem only when running Ubuntu.

See if this helps.

Open a terminal and type: sudo nautilus

Click on file system and navigate to: etc/pulse

You want to open this: daemon.conf (might want to make a copy of the original just in case)

Once open, go down to the bottom of the config file and look for this line: ; default-sample-channels = 2

Change the default number from 2 to 6 and save all changes and then reboot.

After you reboot you can test your sound settings with this: speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twav

Hope that helps, good luck.
