lg r510 laptop internal mic doesn't work

Asked by buzonn

I bought a lg r510 laptop in summer of 2008 but any ubuntu version can work with the internal mic, also ubuntu 9.10. I have no idea about what information can be interesting to put here. Thanks.

I have the same laptop and have been struggling with the microphone all the time.

In the Spanish version of Launchpad I posted a while ago the output from alsa-info.sh

It's here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=32ec89682bee5649c684198911df985a0fd281e9

I know it is not a solution but if you really need a microphone, if you plug an external microphone, it works properly (adjusting the input levels in the mixer).

Oh, and you haven't said: it's an HDA Intel sound card.

Intel HDA ICH9 ALC268.

Also, in my case, I think the microphone is detected. If I record a sound using the "Mic" (it should be "Front Mic" but it is mislabelled, I guess), I do hear noise; the problem is that I can't hear sound.

Yes, the same problem. I think the mic is detected (it appears on the sound control panel) but I hear noise too, not real sound. In Karmic I listen nothing! (not even noise!).But actually, I didn't try a lot in karmic.

Ya le hecho un vistazo al launchad español, creo que lo ví, pero no lo volví a encontrar.

thanks claudio.
