slmodemd process hogging access to /dev/snd devices -> Sound Preferences -> Output tab -> "Dummy Output: Stereo" - Codec + Mixer: Realtek ALC861 - ALC861 Analog [ALC861 Analog] Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 02) - sound not working on Toshiba Satellite A105 in Ubuntu 9.10 - using ALSA Driver version 1.0.20
After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10, the sound card in my Toshiba Satellite A105 stopped working. I've tried using the sound mixer and ALSA mixer, but to no avail. I've also tried various fixes found on support forums, but none have produced results.
