how do I get sound when I boot up 9.10 as i did in9.04

I upgraded from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10- on the boot up screen in 9.04 there were some plesant sounds,as there are when one boots up windows.In the 9.10 version there are no sounds at all is this fixable to make sounds?
