You double checked System > Preferences > Sound to make sure it didn't mute the output volume?

I went to system>Preferences>sound one more time and the only output unit (ore what it is called in english) option I have is: dummy output stereo. It is not possible to set or unset this application.
The sound output is on top and are not in mute.

Your output from step 4 shows the issue your pc is having:

/dev/snd/controlC0: Slmodemd 1027 F.... slmodemd

Your Si3054 Modem is hogging the /dev/snd devices, which is preventing your soundcard from working correctly.

Please try this solution:

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/87927

which mentions this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/394500/comments/40

So you need to disable the Si3054 Modem (56k modem) via System/Administration/Hardware drivers

Thanks.. Just tell if you are in Oslo, I'll show you the town.
I went to System/Administration/Hardware. It was not possible to chose to disable the Si3054 Modem (56k modem), but I had to disable the whole drive. The sound is back:) Will that give me any other problems?

Hi,

Thanks for the invitation. I was actually in Oslo a few months ago. And I was staying at the Holmen Fjordhotell in Nesbru. Great hotel, good food and hygiene, full of friendly people and great service.

I had a very nice time in Norway; did the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour as well.

Happy to read that the sound is back. I don' t see any issue with disabling the Si3054 as long as you only disabled the driver for the modem and not the rest of the hardware :-p

To be sure, you would have to send us the command you used to "disable the whole drive"...... Or you can simply reboot and retest everything: sound, video, Youtube, internet, Email, etc....

Regards,

Mark

I am glade you enjoyed Norway.
I don't know if I disabled the driver from the modem ore the rest of the hardware, but things seems to work well.
Thanks:)
