No sound with Audiophile 24/96 in karmik - pastebin report

Hello,
maybe a know bug, but in Ubuntu 9.04 the sound was working fine...
Now my PC is mute!

Ozoono hai posto una domanda in inglese segnandola come lingua italiana gli utenti internazionali che hanno come lingua preferita solo l'inglese non la leggeranno mai. Rifalla segnandola come formulata in lingua inglese.

Please also specify the exact model and make of pc that you are using.

Hello,
my computer is a desktop Athlon 64bit 3000+
the motherboard is an Asus with ram 1 Gbyte
There is an on-board audiochip (AC97 audio) that now is disabled.

I read that this problem may be a bug of pulseaudio that doesn't recognize multiple output and that it need to be configured in order to use analog audio instead of the first one that is digital... but I didn't understand wery well because I'm a new user.

I try STEP 4 of the SoundTroubleshootingProcedure but
it was impossible find flash-plugin-extrasound.

It doesn't work.
I think it is a pulseaudio problem, because when I type pulseaudio at the prompt I have this answer:

E: module.c: Failed to load module "module-alsa-sink" (argument: "sink_name=M2496_out device=hw:M2496 format=s32le channels=10 channel_map=left,right,aux0,aux1,aux2,aux3,aux4,aux5,aux6,aux7"): initialization failed.
E: main.c: Module load failed.
E: main.c: Inizializzazione del demone non riuscita.

That leaves two options:

1. If you want to keep using the Audiophile 24/96 soundcard, then I suggest reverting back to Ubuntu 9.04

2. If you want to keep using Ubuntu 9.10, then I suggest removing the Audiophile 24/96 soundcard, enabling the on-board audiochip in the BIOS, rebooting and then retesting sound using on-board audio

I would personally choose option 2 (enable on-board audio), but it's up to you to decide.

Hi
I removed pulseaudio and alsa.
After I installed alsa-source version 1.0.20 (not 21).
I reinstalled ubuntu-desktop (that installed only pulseaudio).

I was very upset whit this system because I didn't hear any sound so I restarted the PC and the sound was working!!!

I append the result of new pastebin report, because I'm a very new user and I don't know why now everything work and also my english is so bad that I hope the someone can understand was happened and could give an hand in order to resolve this bug.
