no sound santa cruz sound card

1st time installing ubuntu using v9.10. Upgraded to latest version of Alsa and still no sound. Below is output from troubleshooting procedure and I am using a turtle beach (N270) pci card. Can anyone help?

First: please disable your onboard audio chip via the BIOS to ensure Ubuntu is currently using the Turtle Beach card instead of the onboard audio chipset (Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02).

Second: I see the following issue with your ALSA mixer settings:

Please unmute and increase volume on the following 2 mixer controls:

Master,1
Master mono

Then reboot and retest sound.

great...I started to hear the volume at a very low level following these suggestions. Is there any additional settings to tweak to increase the volume to a normal level. All of my Alsa volume levels are at maximum. Thanks!

Well, if the PCM and 3D Control volume channels are at maximum (100% volume) and the volume is still low, then I do not see any other volume channel that can help concerning the Turtle Beach card.

An alternative would be to physically remove the Turtle Beach card and enable the onboard audio chip via the BIOS.

Then reboot and increase volume on all channels and retest sound using the onboard audio chip.
