Simple mixer control 'Master',0

It seems that your sound is muted. Use alsamixer to change the volume to higher value.

Good luck.

I downloaded and installed GNOME ALSA Mixer and unmuted everything, even restarted and still didn't fix my sound problems

System --> Preferences --> Sound --> Hardware tab. Under "Settings for the selected device", set the profile to "analog stereo duplex". Or play a little with these settings.

I played around but I only got the login screen sound to work and nothing else, which is really weird. Any other ideas?

I got it! In the 'Output' tab, I chose my 'Internal Audio Analog Stereo' and everything works now!
Thanks.
