20Missing asoundconf into the alsa-utils(1.0.-2ubuntu3) packages.

Asked by thomas_p75

I have installed Xubuntu9.10 on my computer, with all updates. To change my default soundcard i missing the command "asoundconf". I have looked in the filelist "http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/i386/alsa-utils/filelist" it is missing.

Read the following articles:

http://osdir.com/ml/debian-bugs-closed/2009-09/msg00423.html

http://penguincopter.blogspot.com/2009/07/pulseaudio-beginning.html
-> see Appendix 1

Both asoundconf and alsaconf are not supposed to be used anymore.
If you really need to use one of them, try this command instead:

sudo alsaconf

The sudo alsaconf command is part of the ALSA upgrade procedure here:

http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2009/08/31/upgrade-alsa-1-0-21-on-ubuntu-jaunty-9-04/

So I am guessing that if you cannot use alsaconf or asoundconf at the moment, you can try upgrading ALSA to version 1.0.21 and then try using sudo alsaconf instead
