Right click the sound volume tray icon, click Sound Preferences, and at the top, "Output Volume" will let you make sound go higher than the normal 0-100 range of the Tray Icon's slider.

Try this:
1. Right click the sound volume icon, click "Sound Preferences".
2. At the top, there will be a slider that unlike others, allows you to go over "100%". (Kinda defeats the point of "percentage" doesn't it)
3. Drag the slider above 100%, to the end of where it can go. It will snap near 100% on a faint vertical line about 70% of the way of the whole slider.
