Onboard Realtek HD Audio driver prob.???

Asked by DeviousAlien

I recently install Ubuntu fine. The problem is that the only audio I can hear is the internal [the system speaker]. I am trying to use the onboard audio [Realtek HD audio (Azalia)]. I have everything plugged in and the volume is at max on ubuntu and my speaker sys. I can't install the drivers from my board manufacturer [via disk or download off the site]. Can some one pleeeeeez help? The motherboard is a biostar g31-m7 te version 6.4. Biostars website is biostar-usa.com.

Hi :)

You probably don't need drivers
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows

Also working through this guide might help (the last one was just for flicking through)

I would go with the non-free components at first. Go completely OpenSource later when you got used to it all a bit more

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
