Asked by Ruben Van Wanzeele

I followed https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure
It seems like the drivers for the audio devices are not installed correctly. I tried several things without success

See output:

My first guess, that you are missing driver packages, has been proven wrong by your output.

Next idea: What output do you receive for the command

sudo modprobe -v snd_hda_intel

Does sound work then?

Note that the first file is located under 5.11.0.40 instead of 5.11.0.41

That file should be contained in all kernel directories, 5.11.0-40 AND 5.11.0-41.
Apparently something went wrong with the installation of some packages.

sudo apt instell --reinstall linux-modules-extra-5.11.0-41-generic

after redoing the installation (I had to update the command from 'install --reinstall' to 'reinstall')

(Sorry, for a typo error in my command, should have been install instead of instell.)

The error message is different now.

What is the output of

dmesg | tail

If something was wrong with the modules-extra package, then maybe there is a similar problem also with other kernel packages.

I suggest that you try

sudo apt install -reinstall linux-headers-5.11.0-41-generic linux-hwe-5.11-headers-5.11.0-41 linux-hwe-5.11-tools-5.11.0-41 linux-image-5.11.0-41-generic linux-modules-5.11.0-41-generic linux-modules-extra-5.11.0-41-generic linux-tools-5.11.0-41-generic

Thanks Manfred Hampl, that solved my question.
