Do you get sound in headphones?
If you install and use pavucontrol does it help?

I do not own plug in headphones, only bluetooth headphones and they work as normal, however during zoom meetings the sound comes through very stereo.

I've been tinkering with pavucontrol and there's been no change.

Currently the situation is when the laptop is on it's on there is no sound even after toggling everything. When the laptop is connected to a second monitor (that has speakers), the laptop itself does produce sound but it doesn't recognise the monitor screen to produce sound (but the screen visuals are as normal). I hope this makes sense.
