No sound coming from laptop speakers after installing Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS as dual boot

Asked by Zachary Flohr

Hello,

I recently installed Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS onto the hard disk of my HP Pavilion Laptop 14-bk0xx. I have Ubuntu partitioned next to Windows 10 on the disk. My laptop's internal speakers work fine on Windows 10, but they produce no sound when I boot up Ubuntu. The first two steps of the Sound Troubleshooting Procedure did not fix the issue. I completed Step 3, and my ALSA information is located here: http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=c874a68acd82353f37ff1f78ac447f7db6c38790

My ALSA driver version is k5.8.0-50-generic, and my library and utilities versions are both 1.2.2. Could someone please help me figure out how to get my speakers to produce sound? Please let me know if you would like me to send the output from the command of Step 4 in the Sound Troubleshooting Procedure. (The output from that command is very long, which is why I did not include it herein).

Thank you.
