I have installed ubuntu in my laptop HP Pavilion DV 1204 TU. I couldnt install sound driver i tried a lot. Please guide me for the same.

Do you get any sound ni ANY situation at all? Have you checked the volume levels on the system as well as make it isnt muted. Is the soundcard enabled in BIOS? does the system have a hardware volume switch which needs cranking up?

Can you please provide:

uname -a
lsb_release -a
sudo lshw -C sound
lspci

Hi Folks,
      I got some terrible sound when i installed it then i tried some commands according to some guides. So now I am not getting any sound from my laptop i have checked volume also its maximum but my laptop's mute light is turn on and i am not able to turn it off.

Do you have a hotkey to mute / unmute on the keyboard itself?

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 in my HP pavilion dv4 1241 laptop.But some irregular sound will hear when i login.after some time no sound after login. when i play video,music etc still no sound. any solution ????
