I can't generate sound with my laptop speakers. Output via headphones is fine, however.

Sound output working via headphones, but not via speakers on HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cc5xx running Ubuntu 16.04.
Sound generation used to work just fine.
I recently installed the gstreamer packages for playing mp3 files. Maybe that is the cause, but I don't know.
