No sound or microphone input from Intel HDA sound device when Nvidia drivers also are installed.

When trying to play any audio through the notebooks speakers, or when attempting to capture audio input through a headset or the notebooks microphone, audio playback and capture are not possible. Also in alsamixer can not raise speaker level above zero, even when it is unmuted.
