no Sound after installing Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

I don't have sound coming out of my speakers after I installed Ubuntu 18.04. Before this I had windows 10 but I reformatted everything to linux now. Its a desktop computer. The speakers are connected to the sound motherboard output. I've already tried to mess around with sounds in settings, no luck. The speakers were working when I had windows, but not for ubuntu.
I'm currently following these steps in this website, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure#Step_11
