No sound after 17.10 upgrade? Details inside...

After upgrade to 17.10 I have no sound. I have tried adjusting GNOME mixer settings and nothing is muted. I get some clicking sounds when the Ubuntu theme music is supposed to play on boot up.

The only release that can upgrade to 17.10 is 17.04. If you had 16.04, then you must upgrade to 16.10, then to 17.04, then to 17.10. If you had been using 16.10, then 17.04, then 17.10. I suggest, if you can't find solution to the problem, back up anything that is important. Then download new 17.10, do fresh install, then install backups.

RM, that worked. I had installed pavucontrol but never tried switching anything on the config tab. Strange that the sound in settings or gnome mixer etc don't have the same capability as pavucontrol to switch outputs. The other programs have that locked out! So marking this as solved! Thanks!
