No sound in ubuntu 16.04

Asked by ben phillips

Hi All,

I have recently done a new install of 16.04 (on a new hard drive). Before this I was using Ubuntu 14.04, and windows, and both worked with sound just fine.

I have tried literally every recommendation on the internet with no success, including everything on this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure

From that page it advised me to attach this link for your info: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=13646f4a5e247690bdf8094c9e5b4086729d90cd

I am using ASRock 970 extreme mottherboard, with Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS.

I am using M_AUDIO speakers plugged into XONAR DGX sound card.

Please advise.
