I'm using headphones through the audio jack at the back of the motherboard.

Do you get sound from the front audio jack (if you have one)

What is the sound issue you are having?

Thank you for your reply :D
No I don't hear anything from the jack wether it be headphones or speakers,
and the audio settings sat the output device is a dummy output.

Driver version:
Library version: 1.1.3
Utilities version: 1.1.3

You have no ALSA driver version. Try:

sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade; sudo apt-get install pavucontrol linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils lightdm ubuntu-desktop linux-image-`uname -r` libasound2; sudo apt-get -y --reinstall install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils lightdm ubuntu-desktop linux-image-`uname -r` libasound2; killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.pulse*; ubuntu-support-status; sudo usermod -aG `cat /etc/group | grep -e '^pulse:' -e '^audio:' -e '^pulse-access:' -e '^pulse-rt:' -e '^video:' | awk -F: '{print $1}' | tr '\n' ',' | sed 's:,$::g'` `whoami`

Then reboot

You have to copy the block of commands from https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/660576 as one single item and paste it at once, and not break it into pieces.

Something must have gone wrong with the command.
There should not be messages about regex, and there should definitely not be an error "E: Unable to locate package ubuntu-desktop"

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Yousef Elbahnasawy for more information if necessary.
