No sound on ubuntu studio 16.04

Are you using HDMI audio or regular 3.5mm jacks?

Do you get sound in headphones?

regular 3.5mm jacks and no sound at headphones as well. Also sound icon is on the menu bar but barely visible(same color as the bar) when I click the menu opens.

If you run:

alsamixer

are all levels maxed and unmuted?

Is the sound card enabled in BIOS?

all maxed except headphones and it cannot be changed.
also sytem settings show headphones as the default built in audio.
