Sound Problem!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am using Compaq Presario B1914TU Laptop, I had installed Ubuntu 8.04 but there was no sound output. I have tried most of the steps mentioned on the website, i have also downloades the Linux drivers from Realtek but none have worked, can you please check and help me find a soln for the same. As i am very keen on moving on to Ubuntu as my OS.
